Artists and Photographers at all levels and abilities are welcome. Join us on a creative and cultural adventure and experience Spain's beautiful Castellón Province with its varied landscape, magnificent architecture, rich cultural heritage and that special quality... perfect Mediterranean light.

Based in the southern tip of the province and close to the city of Valencia, the holidays are centred in the town of Segorbe.

The political and cultural capitol of the region, this is a small and easy going town, steeped in history and rich in local culture with many historic sites and a magnificent cathedral.

It makes a perfect base from which to work and explore.

Segorbe is real Spain, untouched by mass tourism and enjoying a laid back, unhurried pace of life, full of shady corners and sweet, fresh water fountains and internationally renowned festivals.

The location is a visual delight providing the artist with a wide range of inspiration and creative material.

Varied landscape of low rugged mountains and fertile plain , ancient streets lined with flowers, waterfalls, lakes and rivers, ruinded castles and majestic cathedrals and the continual spectacle of the continual street theatre that is Spanish daily life.

Segorbe is just over half an hour inland from the coast with stunning sandy beaches and the ancient town of Sagunto,  with its Roman remains, impressive castle, amphitheatre and old Jewish quarter.

Less than an hour away is fashionable and elegant Valencia, a long overlooked jewel in Spains cultural and historical crown.

Home to internationally renowned fiestas, important historical sites and a dynamic social and cultural life, this small and friendly city is a visual delight. It offers artists and photographers endless resource and inspiration.

Light in Spain reflects the country and its rich varied history. It has played and important part in forming its artists and photographers, has influenced its architects and defined the character of its people.
In the early morning the sun slowly rises, spreading out its soft golden rays feeling its way over the awakening landscape. Rushing out across the wide open plains and city squares, searching for a path over low rugged mountains and jagged cityscape of aged cathedrals and towering apartment blocks, the sun folds back the blanket of night.

Driving the dark further to the edge, concentrating in diminishing pools of shadow, it reaches such depth it seems light may never touch.

Finally, at its zenith, the sun reigns triumphant and it sits like a weight over the land. Slowly it relaxes, confident in its supremacy and the shadows see their chance, regrouping, spreading out reclaiming their right.

Before the sun realises its mistake the shadows drive it back down, its colour reflecting the silent struggle as it falls wounded and bloody beyond the horizon.

This dramatic theatre of light in Spain, and its interplay with the people and their land, provides endless opportunity and inspiration for Artists and Photographers. It offers a diverse pallet of tone ranging from the subtle jewel of reflection and refraction to the stark and angular contrast of the midday sun or the rich, sweet pastel hues of twilight.
